Viewing & Requesting Footage
Viewing Footage
Viewing and requesting footage from us is easy, but it does require a few steps. You can start by using our search bar on our home page or exploring from our Recollect Catalog site. Type your keyword in the search bar to search the titles in our database. On the results page you can narrow down search results by “Item Type” and “Date Range” and even what letter a title might start with. You can also further refine your search, using the “Refine Search Terms” button that appears above the search results. From there you can add or restrict search terms and use AND/OR/NOT or Boolean searching to include or exclude terms.
You may also browse the collections through our Item Type, Featured Collections, and Discover by Topic widgets. On the results page, you will find clips of footage that fit your search terms. All of our results will be in clip format. Clips are only about 10% of the full-length footage. To see the full-length program or video, contact our reference staff, and they will help you register with the archive and watch the full video through direct streaming online. Access to the full-length footage is temporary and lasts for a two week digital loan period.
Course Reserves
Course reserves are a form of access to ʻUluʻulu’s full-length videos that spans beyond the usual two week access period, and can be used for more than one viewer. Course reserves are offered for instructors and research groups that require longer viewing periods for larger groups of people, as might be required for university, secondary and elementary classes. These reserves require that the instructor or research lead of a team be responsible for all other group members’ responsible use of material while they have access.
Requesting Use of Footage
To request use of the footage for any reason, please contact us and we will help you navigate the process. Requesting use of footage can take several weeks and requires the approval of the collection donors.
For More Assistance
